The Ninth International Space Conference

Protection of Materials and Structures from the Space Environment
in Toronto, Canada

May 20 - 23, 2008

The 9th meeting will be held in Toronto, Canada and will be sponsored, as usual, by a number of government agencies and private companies. The meeting, as in the past years, will cover a range of cross-disciplinary topics in protection of materials and structures in space, and will provide the attendees a forum for the exchange and discussion of information on these topics.

The main mandate of this meeting is to continue the discussions on the effects of the harsh space environment on materials and structures that were started in 1992 at the first meeting in Toronto.

Suggested Topics: The topics of interest will include but are not limited to
  • Space Environmental Effects on Materials and Structures in LEO Environment (AO/VUV, Radiation, Debris, etc..)
  • Space Environmental Effects on Materials and Structures in GEO, MEO Environments
  • Predictive Models of Interaction of Matter with LEO Environment
  • Fundamental Interactions between Space Environment and Materials
  • Synthesis and Modification of Materials and Surfaces for Protection in LEO
Abstract Submission Guidelines: Abstract Deadline: January 18 2008
The Abstract Proceedings of the conference will be published for distribution at the conference. Abstracts of contributed papers must be received no later than October 24 2007

Paper Submission Deadline: Camera-ready manuscripts must be received by April 1 2008 to be included in the book. Further information will be provided in the second announcement.
